Recently, we found out that there is a really nice zoo right out side of our city. Several of our friends recommended it, and since we have been so busy lately, we decided to take a day to visit. We were really glad we did. There is something special about being able to observe the wonders of nature. Whether it is the barely contained power and grace of lions, tigers, and panthers, the dazzling beauty of peacocks, parrots, and horn-bills, or if it is the comedic antic of the chimps, baboons, and orangutans, I always enjoy watching, and I often think about the things we can learn from the animal kingdom. But zoos and wildlife park often are bitter sweet. It is a little sad that animals that should be able to roam free, are stuck in an enclosure. Despite that, it was still nice being there. This park was a little different from similar places that we have been to in other lands. In most places, visitors are asked not to feed the animals. Here, feeding the animals seems to be part of the experience, and it is not just feeding the birds either. Here you can feed just about everything. They even sell meat that you can tie to a string attached to a bamboo pole, and feed the big cats. The strangest thing I saw was when one man offered the orangutan a sprite. It actually reach it's hands out for it, caught it when the man threw the bottle to it, and then preceded to drink. It was pretty funny. Of course, there were also funny signs all throughout the park one of my favorites implored visitors not to feed their fingers to the tigers. I always assumed that that goes without saying, but I guess I was wrong. I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as we enjoyed being there. Frank
